ABOUT US

Founded in 1992, the National Association of Veterans’ Research and Education Foundations (NAVREF) is the nation’s preeminent membership association committed to expanding research and education partnerships across the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).  Our members – more than 75 nonprofit research and education foundations authorized by Congress – are committed to improving the quality of care for Veterans and their families by expanded access to clinical trials nationwide.

Since our founding, we have partnered with the VA on efforts to streamline clinical trials, provide veterans with innovative, groundbreaking care, and expand upon education opportunities for VA health care staff, veterans, and their families.

Best Practice Consultations (at no cost): NAVREF's BPC promotes high-quality operational practices among the VA-affiliated NPCs. Through this program, NAVREF supports the cost of sending two or three specifically selected, experienced executive directors or NAVREF staff members to spend two days on-site reviewing all aspects of the NPC's management.

Complimentary access to Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) e-Learning Program: These modules provide training for all research administrators and can be used to prepare for ACRP exam to credential research coordinators, assistants, and administrators.

Congressional advocacy for NPC-driven VA Research: This entails lobbying for increases in the annual appropriation for the VA medical and prosthetic research account, and connect with House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees to highlight research and education issues pertinent to VA. We also work closely with VA and the VA Office of Research and Development to further the mission to deliver cutting-edge healthcare to our nation's veterans.
