Brief Description

Dorn Research Institute, also known as DRI, supports the research and educational activities at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC. Dorn VAMC is a level 1C teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services. Dorn VAMC has 204 skilled nursing beds, which includes acute medical, surgical, psychiatric, and long-term care. The hospital provides primary, secondary, and some tertiary care. In FY 2013, there were a total of 75,813 unique patients including 6,381 female Veterans and 15,829 Veterans from the OIF/OEF/OND period of service. In FY 13, there were 936,424 outpatient visits and 5,005 inpatients treated.
